Answer:

The splitting of white light into seven colours on passing through a transparent medium is called dispersion of light. The dispersion of white light happens because the angle of refraction of lights of different colours is different while passing through the transparent medium.

Explanation:

Now, if white light is used the prism splits up the light into a series of colours. ... The spread of colour is called a SPECTRUM. The dispersion of white light into a spectrum occurs because the different colours are refracted by different amounts by the glass of the prism.

white light consists of 7 different colour having different frequency and wavelength when it passes through prism there is a phenomenon called refraction In this phenomena the white light deviate towards the normal or away from the normal due to different range of frequency and wavelength with same velocity it form spectrum of light .

Mathematical prove

Light is a form of energy called photon

E = hv

where v = frequency h = threshold constant and E = energy

v = c/lemda

since C is constant so

frequency and wavelength varies inversely each other

So there is a change in deviation of seven different colours .
