alliteration, same sound in one line. metaphor, comparison without like or as. simile, comparison with like or as. refrain, repetition of same phrase at end of each paragraph. repetition, words repeated one after another. imagery, words used to create an image of the situation in the minds of readers. personification, make a non living thing to become living and tell about it in first person.
