Can anyone please define what are Polar and Non polar solvents?

Polar Solvents: When two different atoms single electron pair, both exert different forces on the shared electron pair. More electronegative atom partially draws electron density towards itself because it pulls the shared elecron pair with more force towards itself.

In simple words: Polar solvents are those that have partial positive and partial negative charge

Non-Polar Solvents: When two identical atoms share electron pair, both atoms exert same force on the shared electron pairs, this is called Non-Polar Solvents.

In simple words: It is the balanced bond between two similar electrons

Example: H-H, O=O
