General Theory of Relativity explains the relation between mass and energy. Actually, it tells us how much energy is contained in given amount of mass. This relation is denoted by E=mc^2. Here, E is energy, m is mass of the object, and c is the speed of light in vaccum (which is 299,792,458m/sec.)

Explanation:

Suppose we have an object of mass 1 kilogram.

By putting this value in our equation, we get

E=1x(299792458)^2

As we can see, the object contained so much energy (in joule).
