Censorship of the media is a hotly contested topic. The public has declared that there is excessive violence portrayed on television and that this violence ultimately negatively affects viewers, especially children.

Censorship is the regulation and control of information and ideas that are circulated among people within a society.
Normal children are born curious, and they will do whatever it takes to find out the answer to things which attract their curiosity. When content is deliberately censored, it creates a “forbidden fruit” for children, and they might search in other places for what was deliberately blocked from them, which defeats the purpose of censoring the content in the first place. If there are no censors, the children’s parents will act as their natural censors, and will switch off or change the channel if inappropriate content arises. This would avoid arousing the curiosity of children. For example, when a child is watching television with his or her parents, if the parents spot inappropriate content, they can change the channel with an excuse like “there is a more interesting program going on!”
