Question :

Two elements X and Y combine in the ratio 3:8 by mass and the compound Z is formed . If Z is one of the greenhouse gases.

(i) Identify X , Y and Z

(ii) Write the electronic configuration of X and Y

(iii) Write the atomicity of Molecule Z

Required Answer :

According to the question the reaction can be represented by ,

 \cdot  \:  \large\boxed{ \red{ \sf{x + y \longrightarrow \: z}}}

(i) The gas essential for photosyntesis and one of the green house gases is Carbondioxide. Carbondioxide is formed by the combination of Carbon and Oxygen . Also carbom and oxugen combine in the ratio 3:8 . This mean ,

  • X is Carbon
  • Y is oxygen
  • Z is Carbondioxide

Now , The reaction becomes ,

 \cdot  \: \large{ \boxed{ \red{ \sf{C + O_2  \longrightarrow \: CO_2}}}}

(ii) Electronic configuration of X (carbon) is 2 , 4

Electronic configuration of Y (oxygen) is 2 , 8 , 6

(iii) Atomicity is the total number of atoms in a molecule . In CO₂ , Number of atoms are 3 ( one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms) . Hence , The atomicity of Z (carbondioxide ) is 3.

(iii) Write the atomicity of Molecule Z

Required Answer :

According to the question the reaction can be represented by ,

\cdot \: \large\boxed{ \red{ \sf{x + y \longrightarrow \: z}}}⋅

x+y⟶z

(i) The gas essential for photosyntesis and one of the green house gases is Carbondioxide. Carbondioxide is formed by the combination of Carbon and Oxygen . Also carbom and oxugen combine in the ratio 3:8 . This mean ,

X is Carbon

Y is oxygen

Z is Carbondioxide

Now , The reaction becomes ,

\cdot \: \large{ \boxed{ \red{ \sf{C + O_2 \longrightarrow \: CO_2}}}}⋅

C+O

2

⟶CO

2

(ii) Electronic configuration of X (carbon) is 2 , 4

Electronic configuration of Y (oxygen) is 2 , 8 , 6

(iii) Atomicity is the total number of atoms in a molecule . In CO₂ , Number of atoms are 3 ( one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms) . Hence , The atomicity of Z (carbondioxide ) is 3.
