Understanding :
1) By Haley and Smith formula,
Percentage ionic character, =
(0.16D + 0.035D^2) * 100 %
= (16D + 3.5D ^2)%
where D is Electronegativity difference between A and B

Steps:
1) Using above formula,
D = 2.0
Percentage ionic character = 16* 2 +(3.5)*2^2
=32+(3.5)*4
=32+14 = 46%


So, If Electronegativity difference between A and B is 2.0 , then percent ionic character is 46%.
