limiting reagent is the substance which is firstly consumed after the chemical reaction is finished

HEY mate here is your answer.

chemical reaction takes place in a definite ratio by mass when one is taken excess and one in insufficient amount chemical reaction takes place according to the reactant taken insufficient. here in these reaction the reactant taken insufficient limits the product(amount of product formed). hence the reactant is called as limiting reagent.

it is easy for you to get it as you can remember it as the reactant which is of small amount than required.
