in the identity multiply and divide by two
when you multiply the part on rhs after x+y+z, you get all in (a+b)^2 form as given and 1/2 is the one you divided
when you multiply the part on rhs after x+y+z, you get all in (a+b)^2 form as given and 1/2 is the one you divided
