As I have said earlier, the best idea will be reading the book throughly once and then practising all the examples without seeing their solutions and then come back over here.

Here, in these two above given questions, the solutions can appear little bit complicated, but i will try not to make them excessively complicated.

SOLUTION TO QUESTION 5 (b)

( {4}^{- 1}  \div  {7}^{ - 1} )^{ -  2}

 = ( \frac{1}{4}   \div  \frac{1}{7})^{ - 2}

 =  (\frac{7}{4})^{ - 2}

 = ( \frac{4}{7} )^{2}

 =  \frac{16}{49}

SOLUTION TO QUESTION 6

 {4}^{2x + 5}  = 64

{4}^{2x + 5}  =  {4}^{3}

2x + 5 = 3

x =  - 1
