Let us look at the hints :-

1. Among 6-8-2 , one number is correct and well placed as well

2. Among 6-1-4 , one number is correct but wrongly placed.

3. The above hint applies for 7-8-0.

4. Among 2-0-6 , two numbers are right but incorrectly placed.

5. The combination 7-3-8 is completely wrong.

From Hint #5, we can infer that 7, 3, 8 do not fit into the solution. So we rule out these three numbers.

This will lead us to Hint #3; since 7 & 8 are incorrect, then as per the hint 0 (zero) is one of the 3 digits to crack the code.

Now, look at Hint #4; it says that two digits are correct but wrongly placed. You will notice that in Hints #4 and #3, 0 (zero) is placed in the 2nd and 3rd places respectively. Therefore. 0 (zero) is the first digit of the code.

So, 0 _ _

Now, moving on to the other two digits. On looking closely at Hints #1 and #4, one will see that number 2 has been implicitly highlighted. Since zero occupies first place, it is impossible for 6 to be correct (as seen in 6-8-2). However, on juxtaposing the two clues, one will notice that 2 comes to the forefront easily. 2 is shown to be in the wrong position in Hint #4, which means that 2 is the third digit of the code.

This leaves us with 0 _ 2

Now, we are left with Hint #2. Since 6 has been ruled out, and 1 cannot fit in (because the hint says the correct digit has been wrongly placed). This applies for 8 in Hint #1 too. Thus, we have 4.

Ans) The answer will be 0-4-2
