Can anyone te the main characteristics of acids, main if we are asked to write 'main' characteristics ?
(Please note: The following are not main ones:
1. Acids turn blue litmus red and let red litmus be red if dropped,
2. they are sour in taste and
3. they are corrosive.)​

Some acids are useful to us while some are harmfull

usefull acids:

1. citric acid ( found in lemon juice,and citrus fruits)

2. lactic acid (found in curd)

3.acetic acid (vinegar)

4.tartaric acid (found in tamarind)

5.etc.....

Harmful acids:

1. hydrochloric acid

2.formic acid( when ant bites it releases acid in our body that acid is called as formic acid.).

3. etc....

As well as..

• Acids are good conductor of electricity.
• when acids reacts with base salt and water are formed and carbon dioxide is released
