Ho There !
By using the formula (x+y)/2 , we are simply finding the average of two given Rationals and average always lies between the two numbers whose average we have calculated.
So , here our numbers are →
-2 and 6
So , let's apply the formula →
(-2 + 6)/2 = 4/2 = 2
Therefore , 2 lies between -2 and 6.
We have found one number , but what if when , we are asked to find two numbers?
As we know that 2 lies between -2 and 6
So, if we calculate average of 2 and 6 , then their average also must lie between -2 and 6.
So, average of 2 and 6 →
(2+6)/2 = 8/2 = 4
Again , we obtained 4 , which also lies between -2 and 6.
So, to find more numbers we will continue this process , until we get required number of results , and there are Infinite Rationals between any two numbers.
