Hey dear here is the answer

Both these compounds have only one central atom, sulphur in case of H2SO5 (Caro's acid) and chromium in case of CrO5 (Chromium pentoxide).

First of all, calculate the oxidation state of central atom.

If the calculated oxidation state of central atom is greater than the maximum oxidation state of that atom( like in both these cases) then the number of peroxide linkages are:-

[Calculated o.s - maximum o.s] ÷ 2

Caro's acid (H2SO5)

Oxidation state of sulphur comes to be +8 but the maximum oxidation state of sulphur is +6 so by the formula, Caro's acid has only one peroxide linkage.

Hope it's help you

yes . it is very nice question
sulphur can show more than +6 oxidation state according to the formula it means peroxide linkage will be there.
as u can see in H2SO6 there is no petoxide linkage as sulphur has +5 oxidation state
but if we take the case of H2S2O8 its oxidation state comes out be +7 which is not possible and if we form its structure we will come to know that sulphur has oxidation state +6 and has peroxide linkage
