Before Writing the notes on 5 states of matter.

I am explaining you that what is matter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Anything that occupies space is called Matter.

The spaces between the particles of matter is called Intermolecular spaces.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now,

There are 5 states of matter:-

  • Solid
  • Liquid
  • Gas
  • Plasma
  • BEC (Bose Einstein Condensate)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Solid :-

The characteristic feature of crystalline solid is regular and repeating arrangement of constituent particles in space. The regular three dimensional arrangement of constituent particle in a crystal is known as crystal lattice. The smallest part of the crystal lattice is known as unit cell.

Liquid :-

A liquid is a nearly incompressible fluid that conforms to the shape of its container but retains a (nearly) constant volume independent of pressure. As such, it is one of the four fundamental states of matter (the others being solid, gas, and plasma), and is the only state with a definite volume but no fixed shape.

Gas :-

Gas is one of the four fundamental states of matter (the others being solid, liquid, and plasma). A pure gas may be made up of individual atoms (e.g. a noble gas like neon), elemental molecules made from one type of atom (e.g. oxygen), or compound molecules made from a variety of atoms (e.g. carbon dioxide).

Plasma :-

Plasma is a form of matter in which many of the electrons wander around freely among the nuclei of the atoms. Plasma has been called the fourth state of matter, the other three being solid, liquid and gas. Normally, the electrons in a solid, liquid, or gaseous sample of matter stay with the same atomic nucleus.

BEC (BOSE EINSTEIN CONDENSATE) :-

In condensed matter physics, a Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC) is a state of matter (also called the fifth state of matter) which is typically formed when a gas of bosons at low densities is cooled to temperatures very close to absolute zero (−273.15 °C or −459.67 °F).
