can anyone tell me We and a number of other animals cannot digest cellulose.Why?​

Humans and certain other animals except for ruminants do not have the suitable enzymes to digest cellulose .

there can be many reasons of it

but most prominent is

there is a symbiotic bacteria which digest the cellouse so those animals which do have a sufficient amount of this bacteria are able to digest cellulose e.g cow but some animals or organisms such as humans donot have sufficient amount of this bacteria and thus are not able to digest cellulose.
