Arrhenius gave the theory of electrolytic dissociation in 1887.
According to him:
1. An electrolyte on dissolving in water dissociates into free mobile ions i.e cations and anions and allows the flow of an electric current through it.
2. All ions carry an electric charge and are responsible for the flow of current through the solution.
3. The conductivity of the electrolyte depends upon the concentration of the ions in the solution.
4. The number of positive charges is equal l to the number of negative charges in the solution.

Hope my answer helps you.

aihaanking10p7uhry: First of all thanks for the answer i really liked it. But is this theory from physics or chemistry.

Arrhenius theory, theory, introduced in 1887 by the Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius, that acids are substances that dissociate in water to yield electrically charged atoms or molecules, called ions, one of which is a hydrogen ion (H+), and that bases ionize in water to yield hydroxide ions (OH−).
