<I >Hey here is your answer

Your question is :-
Solve for x :-
-3x + 4 = -8

Method (1)

Solution :-

-3x + 4 = -8
-3x = -8 -4
-3x = -12
3x = 12
x = 12/3 = 4

Method (2)

-3x + 4 = -8

Subtract both sides by 4

-3x + 4 - 4 = -8 -4
-3x = -12

Divide both sides by -3

-3x/-3 = -12/-3
x = 4

Verification :-

put x = 4 in equation :-

-3x + 4 = -8

LHS :-

-3x + 4
-3(4) + 4
-12 + 4
-8

RHS = -8

LHS = RHS
-8 = -8

so , x = 4 is the right answer

hope this helps you

-3x + 4 = -8

Take away 4 from both sides:

-3x = -8 - 4

-3x = -12

Divide both sides by -3:

x = -12 ÷ (-3)

x = 4

Answer: (A) x = 4
