Let A be the set of families which buy newspaper A, B be the set of families which buy newspaper B and C be the set of families which buy newspaper C.

Number of families=10000

n(A)= 40× 10000

_______ = 4000

n(B)= 20× 1000

_______ = 2000

n(C)= 10× 10000

______ = 1000

n(A∩B)= 4× 10000

_________ = 400

100

n(B∩C)= 3× 10000

_______ = 300

100

n(A∩B∩C)= 2× 10000

________ = 200

100

no. of people buy only A, only B & only C=1400+200+3300=4900
