The Harvest Hymn poem by Sarojini Naidu is a hymn sung in praise of the three Gods Prithvi, Varuna and Surya. A group of people thank them for a rich and wonderful harvest with a garland and a cymbal and a musical instrument for their hymns for each of the deities.

This poem deals with the fact that God, the almighty is responsible for a good harvest in the year. The poetess praises the God that he is so kind that he makes the harvest so good for the year.

People sing hymns in the praise of lord Surya, Varuna and Prithvi. They praise God Surya for the sunlight he showers on Earth and make the crops prosper. They offer him tribute and garlands.

The people further praises God Varuna who is the god of rainbow for he is responsible to shower raindrops upon the crops. They praise him with cymbal and pipe, pays him tribute with garlands.

The women praise the Prithvi, the mother earth, for being so kind and modest with seeds. They praise Prithvi for the shelter and nourishment it provides to the crops.
