Yes. There are quite a few stray atoms wandering around out there. Though most atoms have an outer electron shell that is not full. Atoms that are nuetural have as many electrons as they do protons. The electron shells of atoms are most stable and require less energy when they are full. So atoms are attracted to other atoms with which they can share enough electrons to fill their outer electron shell. Atoms that have more, or fewer electrons than protons are ions. Ions are even more reactive because they need to find other atoms with which to exchange or share electrons to match their number of protons.
Most atoms are at their most stable and least energetic state within molecules. But it is entire possible for atoms to exist independently from other atoms.
