volcano eruption can not be stopped. The level of forces that causes the eruption are beyond the control of humans . This is why so much time and effort is put towards predicting eruptions . The best humans can hope for at this point in time is to try to save lives by evacuating people when an eruption is imminent. But even this can be guess work science because a volcano may not errupt when predicted , and people won't want to put their lives on hold for weeks or months if the eruption doesn't take place . when eruptions produce flowing larva , humans will some time attempt to divert the flow to protect people and preserve human constructions , such as roads or buildings . Occasionally this will be successful but not all the time ..
