Cells like xylem or mature human RBC's are considered to be living cells though they do not possess a nucleus.
Xylem cells and RBCs initially have a nucleus, however, on maturation, they lose it and become enucleated. Hence, they can no longer divide and have a fixed span of life.
They perform important functions in the plants and animals that do not require the nucleus. They cannot reproduce but can produce other significant functions such as transport of gases, accommodate haemoglobin, transport water, etc.
