yes they can be equal if the object is travelling in straight line with constant positive acceleration and velocity

Here is ur answer
When the object is moving in a straight line distance will be equal to displacement.

For example an object starts from rest and moves 20 m north.

Distance is the full path covered by the object so distance covered by object will be 20 m.

Displacement is the shortest path covered by the object.

Shortest path = Actual path,because object travelled in a straight line.

Displacement and Distance should have same magnitude because the object has not changed its direction.
