Here is your answer mate...

The guard cells role is indirect in photosynthesis. The job it has is to open and close the somata pores to control oxidation (respiration), water loss due to evaporation, and CO2 absorption during photosynthesis because the leftover CO2 from respiration is not quite enough at all. For every gram of carbohydrates that photosynthesis creates, it needs nearly twice that weight in CO2… (about 1.8 times). So if the guard cells close to prevent evaporation due to lack of water then the plant cannot get enough CO2 to continue photosynthesis and so the plant may struggle. The excess O2 from photosynthesis can also exude out from these pores… if it does not then O2 can cause oxidative damage to the plant. So you see, the guard cells are quite an active little cell doing so much.
