Answer:

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY is about CARBON COMPOUNDS

EXPLANATION:

The element Carbon(C) can form Millions of Compounds with other Carbon atoms and with atoms of other elements. The uniqueness of CATENATION AND TETRA-VALENCY makes Carbon different from other elements. Carbon has 4 valence electrons in its outermost shell. Carbon has a valency of 4.

Assume these possibilities for Carbon to form Ionic compounds

1) If carbon loses 4 electrons it will need lots of energy to do it. And finally 6 Protons(+) will have to hold on to 2 remaining electrons in the atom. This is not possible.

2) If carbon gains 4 electrons, 6 Protons will have to hold on to 10 electrons in the atom. This is not possible.

To overcome these, Carbon shares electrons with other atoms. The compounds formed in this way are called covalent compounds.

These are the basic theories in ORGANIC CHEMISTRY.
