Long back.. I wrote this article ...though...there is not much, but concluding part is cool.... have a look

There has been a notion simmering amongst the elites of the country since the day Rajasthan and Haryana introduced educational qualifications as a criterion for candidates to contest in elections. And that notion is, should it be extended to MPs/MLAs as well ?

=> There are many elites who share dissenting opinion. They quote
"There are few fields that don't demand education as a pre-requisite to become king in those spheres. Acting, sports , singing to name a few. They firmly reckon that even politicians fall into this category.

=>They underpin their stand by making reference to virtue ethics which advocates people to ingrain noble virtues like honesty, integrity , amiability into their character more than anything else .

=> Well, same reason can be cited for other designations too.
Ex: We need policemen who are physically strong, sensitized and blessed with scrupulous character [Why do we have provisions for tests to check the depth of their knowledge ? when their only job is to maintain law and order] & [maintenance of law and order demands only training and not anyeducational qualifications]

Demanding EDUCATED policemen and remaining indifferent to the necessity of there masters[The POLITICIANS] to be educated is inexplicable to me at least.

Personally, I don't feel educational qualifications like 10th pass for panchayats or 12th pass for MLA and graduate for MPs are going to bestow us with any better politicians, neither do I wish them to become walking-Wikipedia.

All I desire is to have politicians with relevant knowledge of our history, geography, economics, culture , environment and ethics, but very much aware of our day to day problems. I am even liberal to an idea of conducting a mandatory basic test for people aspiring to contest elections, but given our political class reticence. It appears to be a distant dream.

Sdft: thank you for helping.
abhinabsingh22p8u6uz: My pleasure....I hope this will give you some ideas.
Sdft: ya it wil
