Layering
In layering a young plant is bent and pressed into moist soil. After a few days or weeks root develop from the covered part. Now the branch can be cut and moved where needed. It is used to propagate jasmine.
Cutting
In this method a healthy young branch with a few nodes is cut off and most of its leaves are removed. It is stuck into moist soil. This cutting will now develop roots and grow into a new plant. It is used to propagate rose and sugar cane.
Grafting
This method helps to combine the desirable features of two plants. For example, a high yielding variety of mango is grafted onto another of the same species known for its toughness to get a tough high yielding variety of mango.
