Can i use a magnet to lift plastic? Why and why not?

It is actually not possible to lift a plastic through a magnet. The main reason behind this is that plastics are nonmagnetic materials and therefore the magnetic fields lines pass through them as if they are not even there. That is why they cannot be used to lift plastics .....
