hii
yeah light bounces back from wood but by irregular reflection and that is the reason why we are able to see wood. But the ques says "shiny wood surface"..so its obvious that no surface except for a highly polished one has microscopic irregularities.
hence, light bounces back but in different directions.(irregular reflection)
