Not the best at chemistry but, The two different molecules formed are known as isomers. Both have the molecular formula C4H10, but they have different structures. ... The 'straight chain' isomer is called butane. The branched chain has a three- carbon chain with no carbon–carbon double bond ('propane'), with a methyl group on the second carbon.
