the R-OH IS AN ALCOHAL wherease OH is a hydroxyl group which give alcohals its charecteristic chemical propertiea

HEY MATE !!

HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE

OH IS CALLED HYDROXYL AND IT IS A RADICAL ONLY . CARBOXYLIC ACID AND ALCOHOL CONTAINED IT BUT R-OH IS CALLED HYDROXY GROUP OR SIMPLY ALCOHOL.
