In distilled water too rusting can take place.

Fe+xH2O+O2--->Fe2O3.xH2O

Yes,rusting of iron happen in distilled water, like other normal tap water distilled water also can readily absorb oxygen from atmosphere,

• when iron is attached with water or water vapour of air ,the rusting on the iron is happened, rusting is a redox reaction, here oxygen undergoes to oxidation

• The distilled water cn readily absorb oxygen from atmosphere like the tap or normal water.

the realated reaction is

Fe + xH2O + O2——› Fe2O3.xH2O
