Yeah.Same mass of different materials can occupy different volumes. It depends on the surface tension or we can say it depends on their intermolecular forces. For example a kilogram of mercury is stored in a small tumbler whereas a kilogram of water is stored in a medium sized jug which its volume is larger compared to small tumbler.

amal14: tell it now
Anonymous: Intermolecular forces man !
Anonymous: Without an intermolecular force ntg exists !
Anonymous: Learn it kiddo !
amal14: but not upon surface tension
amal14: I was right about surface tension
amal14: and you could easily say density instead of intermolecular forces. It makes the answer more complex
amal14: the stronger the intermolecular forces, the higher the density
amal14: speechless?
Anonymous: Lol.. I was busy kiddo.. I aint a ne.rd .... It doesnt make answer complex coz its just a normal general term

yes the same mass of different materials can occupy different volumes as the material with a higher density will occupy less volume and the material with a lower density will occupy more volume. for example:- 1kg of an iron brick will occupy significantly less volume than 1kg of cotton.1kg of gold will occupy less volume than 1kg of carbon dioxide or water
