Vapour pressure is force exerted by gas or vapour released by a liquid/solid substance in open space .
Vapour pressure depends upon nature of substance, whether it is volatile or not.
For example: Dry ice (solid CO2)is stored under high pressure.
Solid CO2 has vapour pressure greater than atmospheric pressure.
When it is left open, the pressure decreases and it converts directly into gas without turning into liquid.
In other words it is termed as Sublimation.
