movie review
I think the book was better than the movie because in the movie it misses out on knowing most of the novel's characters. but the movie focuses on the characters' loss of innocence. The movie follows the story line very closely. Darry and Soda are relatively minor characters in the movie, and the people is only given a little insight (definition of insight mean the capacity to gain an accurate and deep understanding of someone or something.) into their lives. The same is true for the rest of the gang, even Dally. ever sence Johnnys death dally wanted to commit suiside and no longer live and the he blamde it on ponyboy. Dally's death loses much of its impact in the movie because the people weren't able to get to know him but in the book it does, Only the reader is aware of the fact that Dally's gun is unloaded and in the movie it doesn't say anything about the gun being unloaded. Johnny's character is also weaker in the movie than the book Johnny had more life in the book then in the movie also. Johnny's appreciation for life at the end of his own is barely noted, but it has great impact on Pony in the novel. I think that the whole point of Ponyboy's story is to give meaning to Johnny's death. that happened near the end ,the nurse give the book GONE IN THE WIND to Ponyboy so the he could finsh the book and when he opened the it he saw a note from Johnny that said , I asked the nurse to give you this book so you could finish it. The doctor came in a while ago but I already knew it anyway. I keep getting tireder and tireder. Listen,I don't mind dying now. It was worth it. It was worth saving those kids. Their lives are worth more than mine, they have more to live for. Some of the parents came by to thank me and I know it was worth it. Tell Dally it was worth it. I'm just gonna miss you guys. I've been thinking about it, and that poem, that guy that wrote it,he meant you are gold when you're a kid, like green. When you're a kid everything is new, dawn. It's just. just when you get used to everything it's day. Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That's gold. Keep it that way, it's a good way to be. I want you to tell Dally to look at one. He'll probably think you're crazy, but ask for me. I don't think he's ever really seen a sunset. And don't be bugged over being a greaser. You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There's still a lot of good in the world. Tell Dally. I don't think he knows. Your Buddy, Johnny. Johnny had wanted Ponyboy to tell Dally certain truths, and given that but Dally is dead, Pony writes this story "Someone should tell their side of the story, and maybe people would understand then and wouldn't be so quick to judge a boy by the amount of hair oil he wore." The movie and book do begin and end with the same lines, the difference is that you understand the book better the the movie because the book has more details of where the setting was and the movie doesn't really tell you there personality while in the book it does.
