Given:

A figure

To find:

The series

Solution:

From given, we have,

2.

12, 23, 34

a  = 12

d = 23 -12 = 34 - 23 = 11

a.

10th term

Tn = a + (n - 1) d

T{10} = 12 + (10 - 1) 11

T{10} = 12 + (9) 11

T{10} = 12 + 99

T{10} = 111

b.

1111 is a term or not.

Tn = a + (n - 1) d

1111 = 12 + (n - 1) 11

1099 = (n - 1) 11

99.9 = n - 1

n = 99.9 + 1

n = 100.9

Therefore, 1111 is not a term of series.

3.

a = 6

Sn = 66

Sn = n/2 [2a + (n - 1) d]

66 = 6/2 [2 (6) + (6 - 1) d]

22 = 12 + 5d

10 = 5d

d = 2

a.

6th term

Tn = a + (n - 1)d

T6 = 6 + (6 - 1) 2

T6 = 6 + (5) 2

T6 = 16

b.

The common difference

d = 2

c.

The first 6 terms of the series.

a, a + d, a+ 2d, .......

6, 6 + 2, 6 + 2(2), ......

6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, .....
