2HI--------H2   +   I2

2a           0           0                       (initial)

a              0.5a     0.5a                  (final)

(let volume be equal to V or 1L, though it doesn't matter as its gonna get cancelled)

let initial moles of HI be 2a

final moles of HI 2(a-0.5a)=a

final moles of H2=I2=0.5a

K=[H2][I2]/[HI]²

=0.25a²/a²

=0.25

(i think its wrong cause i have am getting that feeling....XD)

Tulsirani100: And i didn't get
Anonymous: its correct :)
PSN03: Yes
PSN03: Bingo
amritstar: umm, volume mater, here it is given 1 so it does not matter
AleXXa: xD
AleXXa: U = 1/2mv^2 hota h
amritstar: what are you saying?
AleXXa: nothing...

heya!!

___________________________-

2HI ---------> H2 + I2

1. 0. 0

(1-a). a/2 a/2

here, a is dissociation constant alpha

alpha = 50×1/100 = 0.5

now, by putting the value of alpha calculate equilibrium constant

Kc = ([H2] [I2]) / [HI]^2

Kc = (a/2 × a/2)/ (1-a)^2

Kc = (0.5/2 × 0.5/2) / (1-0.5)^2

Kc = (0.25 × 0.25) / (0.5×0.5)

Kc = 1/4 = 0.25

Hope it helps!!

Tulsirani100: Why did you take 1 mole of HI initially it's 2 moles
Anonymous: coz it's always calculated for 1 mole
Anonymous: **at reactant side
Anonymous: so, at product side..it is divided by 2..
AleXXa: yep!!
Tulsirani100: Ok...thanks PhoeniXX
AleXXa: xD
Tulsirani100: ??
Anonymous: anytime :)
