" Save Water! Every Drop counts"
After air, Water is the precious natural resource . Water is one of the basic necessity for the existence of life on earth.
ocean contains about 97.5% of Earth's water which is unfit for human consumption and about 1.5% is available as glaciers and 1% fresh water is available in the form of rivers, lake water and underground water and is useful for human consumption.
ground water supplies are the fundamental resources for drinking, agriculture and even industry.
when rain falls , some water is lost as it runs off into rains. This water reaches the rivers and seas and some gets lost through evaporation. The remaining water percolates into the ground through the pores between soil particles and is termed as ground water.
water is the lifeline of the earth. without it the forests, the animals and human beings will die.
The beautiful, blue and green planet earth will soon turn into desert.
Government has made efforts to ensure that we do not loose or damage our water resources.
Even we must do our level best to save water and keep our rivers, streams , lakes clean and fresh.
Because of Human activities, now a days we have scarcity of water. So we should preserve rain water to increase ground water level.
Preservation Of Rain water:
1. Rain water harvesting is an age old practice in India : water harvesting techniques used depend on the location where it is to be used.
For example : In Rajas-than , rain water harvesting system for agriculture is called Khadin.
2. Digging of small pits and lakes.
3. Building of small earthen dams .
4. Construction of dykes(long walls of earth to trap water)
5.Construction of sand and limestone reservoirs.
6.Setting up of roof top water collecting units.
7.Installation of Storm Drain theory.
All these methods of collecting and saving rain water have recharged the depletion of ground water levels.

Water is essential for all dimensions of life. Over the past few decades, use of water has increased, and in many places water availability is falling to crisis levels. More than eighty countries, with forty percent of the world’s population, are already facing water shortages, while by year 2020 the world’s population will double. The costs of water infrastructure have risen dramatically. The quality of water in rivers and underground has deteriorated, due to pollution by wasteand contaminants from cities, industry and agriculture. Ecosystems are being destroyed, sometimes permanently. Over one billion people lack safe water, and three billion lack sanitation; eighty per cent of infectious diseases are waterborne, killing millions of children each year.
