Answer:

According to the law of conservation of mass, when a chemical reaction occurs, the mass of the products should be equal to the mass of the reactants. Therefore, the amount of the atoms in each element does not change in the chemical reaction. As a result, the chemical equation that shows the chemical reaction needs to be balanced. A balanced chemical equation occurs when the number of the atoms involved in the reactants side is equal to the number of atoms in the products side.

The three types of reactions are:-

i)Thermal decomposition reaction

A thermal decomposition reaction can be defined as a decomposition reaction which is activated by thermal energy.

E.g,-CaCO3 → CaO + CO2 When heated Calcium Carbonate, decomposes into Calcium Oxide and Carbon Dioxide.

ii)Electrolytic decomposition reaction

An electrolytic decomposition reaction is a type of decomposition reaction in which the activation energy for decomposition.

E.g.-Dissociation of water:2H2O→ 2H2 + O2

iii)Photo decomposition/ photolytic decomposition/ photochemical decomposition

A photo decomposition is the type of decomposition reaction in which the reactant is broken down to its constituents by photons

E.g.-O3 + hν → O2 + O(1D)Photolysis occurs in the atmosphere wherein ozone molecules is broken down into oxygen molecule and atomic oxygen.

a)On heating, ferrous sulphate crystals lose water. So their colour changes from light green to white due to the formation of anhydrous ferrous sulphate (FeSO4). When ferrous sulphate is heated, it gives ferric oxide, sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide.

b)When lead nitrate is heated, it decomposes into lead oxide, nitrogen dioxide and oxygen.

c)Lead nitrate solution contains particles (called ions) of lead, potassium iodide contains particles (called ions) of iodide. When the solutions mix, the lead particles and iodide particles combine to form a new substance, lead iodide, which is a yellow solid.

d)When barium chloride combines with sodium sulphate in the form of their aqueous solutions, a white precipitate of barium sulphate is formed which is insoluble in water. The reaction also creates sodium chloride, which remains dissolved in water and so cannot be seen.

e)Heated copper metal reacts with oxygen to form the black copper oxide. The copper oxide can then react with the hydrogen gas to form the copper metal and water.
