IAS exam have pre and main exam after passing both exam your are selected for interview after that you will be IAS
There is two paper in pre exam
1 gk paper
2 csat( mathematics, reasoning, English)
in main exam you have one paper of English ,gk subject ( which you choose), essay,gkpaper all paper in main exam are written type so you need practice .
