Hello!
Rectification is a process of converting ac current into dc and the device used is called rectifier.
(Please refer to image)
During positive half cycle of ac, d1 diode is forward biased and allows current to flow, offering negligible resistance but d2 diode is in reverse bias and no current flows through it. In negitive half cycle of ac, d2 is forwrd biased while d1 is reverse baised and hence current flows through d2 but not d1. In this way, current is never zero and p-n junction acts as full wave rectifier.
