Answer:

k = 6

Step-by-step explanation:

Given Equations are:

3x + 5y = 0    ----------- (i)

Here, a₁ = 3, b₁ = 5

kx + 10y = 0   ----------- (ii)

Here, a₂ = k, b₂ = 10.

Given that the equation has a non-zero solution.

⇒ a₁/a₂ = b₁/b₂

⇒ 3/k = 5/10

⇒ 30 = 5k

⇒ k = 6.

Therefore, the value of k = 6.

Hope it helps!

here non-zero solution means that the values of x and y will not be zero....

now kx + 10y=0 ....equation1

and 3x + 5y =0 ....equation2

multiply equation2 by 2,

2(3x+5y) =0

6x + 10y =0 .....equation3

now subtract equation 3 by equation1 . .

(kx + 10y) - (6x + 10y) =0

kx + 10y - 6x - 10y =0

kx - 6x + 10y - 10y =0

(k-6)x =0

k-6 =0/x

k-6 =0

k= 6
