current in the cable=P/V
=40*1000W/5000V=8amp
voltage drop in the cable=i*r=8*.5=4v
power loss in the cable=v*i=4*8=32w
power is lost in producing heat
if the same power is supplied with 250v then current will be 20times greater and heat loss will also be 20times greater
i=p/v=40*1000/250=160amp
v=ir=160*.5=80.0volt
p=v*i=80*160=12800watt
at high voltage current qill be low and heating effect of the current in the cable will be low and current will be high at low voltage and heatig effect of current will also be high and heat loss will be more
