Answer:

82;68

Step-by-step explanation:

x-y=14-----(1)

x-y=14-----(1)y-x/2=27

x-y=14-----(1)y-x/2=27>2y-x=54-----(2)

x-y=14-----(1)y-x/2=27>2y-x=54-----(2)from (1) & (2)

x-y=14-----(1)y-x/2=27>2y-x=54-----(2)from (1) & (2)x-y=14

x-y=14-----(1)y-x/2=27>2y-x=54-----(2)from (1) & (2)x-y=14-x+2y=54

x-y=14-----(1)y-x/2=27>2y-x=54-----(2)from (1) & (2)x-y=14-x+2y=54--------------

x-y=14-----(1)y-x/2=27>2y-x=54-----(2)from (1) & (2)x-y=14-x+2y=54--------------y=68-----(3)

x-y=14-----(1)y-x/2=27>2y-x=54-----(2)from (1) & (2)x-y=14-x+2y=54--------------y=68-----(3)put the value of y in the (1) equation

x-y=14-----(1)y-x/2=27>2y-x=54-----(2)from (1) & (2)x-y=14-x+2y=54--------------y=68-----(3)put the value of y in the (1) equationwe get x=14+68=82-----(4)

Answer:

let x is a larger no.

x - y = 14 — equation 1

½x = y + 27 — equation 2

½x - y = 27 — equation 3

multiply equation 1 by ½ and substitute both equation 1 and equation 3.

½x - ½y = 7

½x - y = 27

– + –

—————————

0 + ½y = -20

y = -20 × 2

y = -40

from equation 1 find the value of x

x - y = 14

x - ( -40 ) = 14

x + 40 = 14

x = 14–40

x = –26
