Explanation:

Given -

  • Questions

To Do :-

  • Complete the reaction

11)

(i) nBuBr + KOH

Solution :-

When nBuBr reacts with KOH then it forms Butan-1-ol and Potassium bromide.

Chemical equation :-

CH3-CH2-CH2-CH2-Br + KOH → CH3-CH2-CH2-CH2-OH + KBr

(ii) CH3CH2CH2OH + SOCl2

Solution :-

When propan-1-ol reacts with Thinoyl chloride then it forms chloropropane and Sulphur dioxide and Hydrogen chloric gas is released.

Chemical equation :-

CH3CH2CH2OH + SOCl2 → CH3CH2CH2Cl + SO2 + HCl

12) Explain the mechanism of the following reaction :

CH2=CH2 + H2O → CH3CH2OH

Solution :-

In this reaction, Ethene reacts with water to produce ethanol. Here, Alkene reacts with acid water in the presence of acid to form alcohols.

In Case of unsymmetrical Alkene :-

The addition of water takes place in accordance with Markovnikov's rule. This rule states that negative part of water molecule i.e, OH- part gets attached to that carbon atom which possess lesser number of hydrogen atoms.
