can someone please explain the medians and altitudes of an equilateral triangle and an isoceles triangle. pls explain how the medians and altitudes can be same for these triangles.I am confused. I will mark you brainlest
Answers
This explanation is for both isoceles and equilateral triangles
Step-by-step explanation:
Median is a line from any one point of a triangle which divides the opposite side line segment in half.
Altitude is any line from the upper point of the triangle which connects to the line segment below it.
The difference between Median and Altitude is that a median exactly divides the opposite line segment into two while altitude doesn't have to divide the line segment below it exactly in half.
In the attached figure, CF is the median of line segment AB since it divides the line segment AB exactly in half
Likewise, AD and BE are also medians.
AD can also be said as an altitude since it connects Point A with the below line segment BC. Even if Point D was located in such a way where BD ≠ CD, it would be still considered as an altitude.
Hope this helps because I tried to explain to you in the simplest way possible
