Without water no farming can be done. Monsoon is the only source of water for cultivation. Though farmers use other sources of irrigation like canal water, well water borewell water, tank water, these are all again dependent on monsoon for recharging. So agriculture cannot survive without monsoon. But monsoon cannot be there all the year round. To feed the growing population the farmers are following intensive agriculture. Almost they can go for two are three crops in a year.
