giprock2002: i suggest you watch their video, its not long. Basically you add (or subtract) the real and imaginary components seperately.

giprock2002: z1 + z2 = 5+4i + -7+i = -2 + 5i or basically -2 on RE and 5 on IM

giprock2002: z1-z2 = 5+4i - ( -7+i) = 5+4i +7 - i = 12 + 3i or basically 12 on RE and 3 on IM
