let five years ago, age of the daughter was x years.
so, at that time, age of the mother was 7x years.
so present ages of the mother and the daughter is (7x+5) years and (x+5) years respectively.
so, five years hence, age of the mother and the daughter will be (7x+10) years and (x+10) years respectively.
By the condition,
3 (x+10)=7x+10
=>3x+30=7x+10
=>4x=20
=>x=5
So the present age of the mother is (35+5)years i.e. 40 years and that of the daughter is (5+5) years i.e. 10 years.
